What Generation am I?

What Generation am I?

Someone mentioned Millennials yesterday and I didn’t know what that was. Isn’t that a flower or a vacation or something? Then I was asked what Generation I was? Hell, I don’t know! I never really checked it out. So, I opened up wise Ole’ Uncle Google and started looking.

I’m certainly too young to be a Baby Boomer. I knew that much. Baby Boomers were born around WW2. The dates I found were 1946-1964. That’s like my parents. Baby Boomers are usually pictured in commercials for health insurance, Viagra, retirement villages on golf courses, and other shit they never thought they would care about. Here is what Baby Boomers look like (click on the galleries):

I also grew up hearing about GenX without ever really knowing what it was. GenX is like the post-WW2-baby-boom generation. It dates from about the early 60’s through the mid 70’s. One site said GenX was perceived to be disaffected and directionless. Directionless? GenX should punch that site in the nizuts. This is basically how ALL of GenX looks, even to this day:

Then, I remember hearing about Generation Y. This is the Generation from the early 80’s through the early 2000’s.

And a Millennial is defined as a person reaching adulthood around the year 2000; a Generation Yer. So, a Millennial is the same as GenY and vice versa, so that clears that up.

Here is what GenY and Millenials look like:

So, if GenX ends in the mid-70’s and GenY and the Millennials start in the early 80’s, that leaves a 4 year gap from about 1976-1980.

I was born in 1978. What? I have no generation!? Any of us from that four year period are falling through the generational cracks!

Well, not on my watch! For those of us born in that generational oblivion of 76-80, I would like to propose a new Generation. We are not forgotten! We are Generation O!

Yeah, it’s because of my first name! So what? It’s my website. I can do what I want. You should be glad I didn’t call it Generation Cholesterol Scare, or Generation The Phantom Menace, or Generation Full House, or something else more relevant.

Generation O represent, bitches.

*U*P*D*A*T*E 9/29/17- I read an article who claims the missing generation is now an X-Y’er. Fuck you man, I called it. Pass it on.
